On Nolin Lake (under 20 minutes)
- Buoys at the Lodge — casual bar-and-grill with indoor and outdoor seating right above Wax Marina. The closest sit-down meal.
- Lakeside Cafe at Nolin Lake — coffee bar, breakfast, hot dog bar, specialty pizzas, ice cream, plus grab-and-go meats and bagged ice. Hours shift with the season — call ahead.
- Blue Holler Cafe — German and American comfort food (Jaeger Schnitzel, Patty Melt, pancakes, burgers) with a Nolin Lake view. Founded by a German couple. Hours vary by day — call (270) 286-0013 to confirm.
In Leitchfield (15–20 minutes)
- Steak & Stone — chef-driven steakhouse on the Leitchfield public square. Premium aged steaks and over a hundred Kentucky bourbons. The right pick for a milestone dinner.
- Hometown Hangout— family sports bar and grill, burgers and pub fare. The casual pick when you don't feel like cooking.
- Bluegrass BBQ — local BBQ joint, broad menu, regulars rave about the turkey ribs.
- Farmer's Feed Mill — Southern home-style cooking, hearty portions, breakfast through dinner. Closed Sundays. Call (270) 230-0027 to confirm.
- Mi Camino Real — top-rated Mexican in town, generous portions, easy with groups.
- Yamato Japanese Steak House — hibachi and teppanyaki with table-side cooking. The kid-pleaser dinner.
Outdoor activities
Quest Wildlife Mini Golf
About a mile from the lakehouse. A 9-hole wildlife-themed mini golf course with hand-carved bear and deer sculptures, plus disc golf, axe throwing, a life-size pool, giant chess and tic-tac-toe, horseshoes, a fishing pond, and a playground. Nolin Lake State Park
State park on the southwest shore of Nolin Lake — a separate destination from Wax Marina or Iberia Beach. Worth a half-day for hiking, biking, or the public swim beach. parks.ky.gov →
- Sand beach and picnic pavilion — public swim area.
- Brier Creek Trail System — about nine miles of single-track for hiking and mountain biking.
- Waterfall Loop — short scenic loop with a small wet-weather waterfall.
Legacy Golf Course
Public 18-hole course in Leitchfield, par 72, 6,805 yards from the back tees. Green fees roughly $18–30 for 18. Reliable, well-priced, the closest real golf to the lakehouse.
Wolf Knob Disc Golf
Disc golf course in the area, designed by master course designer John Houck. Open and wooded holes with elevation changes, water, and obstacles. Playable for all skill levels.
