Golf-cart routes
The golf cart comes with the stay. Charged, ready, in the driveway. It's the easiest way to get around Paradise Grove and the surrounding area, and a real differentiator compared to most lake rentals where you're stuck driving your car for everything. Here's what to know.
Inside Paradise Grove
The cart is welcome on every road inside the community. Routes guests use most:
- House to community amenities. Pickleball courts, basketball goal, fire pit, clubhouse, and the seasonal pool are all a five-minute cart drive from the front door.
- House to Iberia Beach. About a ten-minute cart ride to the public swim area at the lake. Bring towels and a small cooler in the back seat — the cart has a small cargo space behind the rear bench.
- Sunset loops. The community roads have quiet stretches with woods on both sides. A slow loop before dinner is a good way to wind down the day.
Out to Wax Marina
Two miles, mostly paved, mostly downhill on the way out. The cart is street-legal in the area for low-speed transit, and guests routinely take it the full distance to Wax Marina to drop off a fishing crew or grab a bite. Tips:
- Take the more direct route, not the shortcut. The shortcut through gravel can be hard on the cart on hot days. The paved road is two minutes longer and easier on everyone.
- Watch the battery on the way back.Out is downhill, back is uphill. Plan a stop at the community center if you're running low.
- Don't cross the highway. The cart is fine for community-area roads but Kentucky law restricts low-speed vehicles from crossing major highways. Use the car if your destination requires KY-728 or anything further.
Charging and care
- Plug it in every night. The charger is in the garage. A full overnight charge gets you twenty-plus miles of community driving — more than a typical day.
- Don't leave the key in.Park in the driveway or garage when you're back for the night and bring the key inside.
- Drive slowly on gravel. The community has some gravel sections; under-tire grip is fine but the dust kicks up.
- Kids in the cart.No standing, hands and feet inside, drivers must be old enough to drive a car legally. Same rules you'd set anywhere else.
What it's not for
Don't take the cart on KY-728 or any state route. Don't take it after dark on roads outside the community — the cart has lights but they're not bright enough for cars to see you reliably. Don't leave the community with it; if your destination requires the highway, take the car.
